FUTURO Alumni Spotlight: Yosadara Vicente

Yosadara received her bachelor’s degree in fine arts in 2020. She then went on to receive her master’s in education in 2022 and is currently working on a second master’s degree at Lipscomb University. She currently works as an elementary school educator at a bilingual school, Aventura Community School, where she is part of the founding staff team. While working at Aventura Community School, she is pleased to be surrounded great people while also giving back to the community and the future of many students. She began her journey with FUTURO as one of the student co-founders at Cumberland University. It was her first time being in a leadership role and she was unaware of the immense impact it would have on her life. She was able to grow as a leader and create many genuine relationships with other students and organizations. She says that FUTURO prepared her for the workforce by providing her with many networking opportunities and networking skills. She also says that FUTURO not only helped her create her resume but grow her resume and experience. She also credits FUTURO for helping her grow her confidence as an individual and professional. Her favorite memory she made while being a FUTURO member was performing with her friends for Hispanic Heritage Month. They had to practice their performance in a small study room, stopping to laugh many times while trying to coordinate steps. They were very nervous on the day of the performance, but they looked great representing Mexico. A piece of advice that she would like to give to FUTURO students about being successful after college is, “¡Échale ganas! (give it all you’ve got) Make yourself proud. Surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you. Go out there ask as many questions as you can. Be your most authentic self.”
