2025 FUTURO Fall Leadership Conference Alumni Reflection

The 2025 Fall Leadership Conference was a beacon of light for students, alumni, and the entire FUTURO familia. It filled me with HOPE to see everyone smiling, and as one new student said, “the environment made everyone glow.” Three moments stood out to me the most.

First, I was impressed by how engaging Marcela Gomez was as a speaker. Her daring personality perfectly complements what FUTURO encourages students to be — bold and ready to make things happen.

Secondly, I had so much fun watching how engaged the students were as they competed with one another during one of the team-building activities that involved M&Ms. It reflected how important it is to have fun.

Lastly, I know that Carlos Zavaleta’s alumni talk resonated with the students as much as it did with me. His vulnerability showed that his journey to success was filled with challenges and opportunities to give up, but his determination to succeed was stronger than any outside forces. Seeing his family surrounding him with pride as he captivated everyone in the room reminded me that when one of us succeeds, we all do, because we’re a familia.
