Asurion’s Internship:

  • Pursing students who are currently 1L or 2L from an ABA-accredited law school. Outside business experience or M.B.A. are pluses
  • Duration of in-person internship is 6 weeks between mid-May through mid-August  
  • Continuous learning and tailored on the job training

Required Experience:  This position is available to 1L and 2L law students at accredited ABA law schools and requires excellent communication, collaborative problem-solving, and strong writing skills. The position is available for pay (intern). This position will support the organization on a wide variety of matters related to its business lines, with an emphasis on client revenue agreements and assistance to the client revenue contracting team.  Prior business experience outside of the legal industry is a plus.  This person will have significant interaction with business managers and legal team members, so he/she must possess strong judgment, and be a quick, sharp, and confident team player.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with drafting and analysis of client contracts.
  • Research legal issues to assist guidance of internal clients on legal and operational issues associated with client agreements such as IT security, data privacy, service level agreements, regulatory compliance and employment/labor considerations and business strategy/impact.
  • Assist with improving legal processes with the maintenance and administration of contracts.  
  • Attend internal client meetings and external client negotiations, as necessary and requested.
  • Other duties as required based on business and legal needs which may include lending support and gaining exposure in the areas of new product development and design, software development and protection of intellectual property rights, global data privacy and security, regulatory compliance under state, federal and international telecommunications and insurance laws, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, corporate finance, employment/labor law, litigation management, procurement, governmental relations, legal department management and international law.

Specific Job Requirements:

  • Strong willingness to learn and gain exposure to a variety of issues, including contract negotiation, intellectual property, technology, data privacy/security, regulatory compliance and litigation preferred
  • Must possess sound character, an entrepreneurial spirit; be self-assured, sharp, politic, collaborative and able/willing to learn new areas of law
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and accept accountability for results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well with business colleagues
  • Nimble; ability to prioritize work without supervision, and manage effectively a large variety and number of matters
  • Commitment to work a maximum of 40 hours per week
